20th Century Fox partners with UrbanGeekz ahead of the U.S. release of The Martian

It’s just over a week to go before the official release date of the highly anticipated Hollywood blockbuster, The Martian.

Based on a bestselling novel of the same name, the sci-fi movie chronicles the spectacular journey of an astronaut who is stranded on Mars. Initially presumed died, astronaut and botanist Mark Watney (played by Matt Damon) has to fulfill two near-impossible tasks: learn how to stay alive and reestablish contact with Earth.

With scarce supplies, Watney must utilize his training and scientific knowledge to figure out how to survive on an alien wasteland. Meanwhile, 140 million of miles away on Earth members of NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring him home, while his crewmates hatch their own plan for a daring rescue mission.

The big-budget movie, which premieres in U.S. theaters on Friday, October 2, features a star-studded cast that includes Jessica Chastain, Kate Mara, Jeff Daniels, Kristen Wiig, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, among others. Directed by Ridley Scott, the film is opening to rave reviews with the scientific community even praising the flick for being rooted in science.

With this in mind, 20th Century Fox has teamed up with UrbanGeekz to give our fabulous nerdy readers an exclusive opportunity to attend special advance screenings of The Martian in FIVE major markets ahead of the upcoming official release date. Not only will you be the first to watch this must-see movie but you’ll get the chance to bring along a friend, as we are handing out admit-two passes for each lucky winner. We have 25 pairs of passes to give away in each market.

The screenings take place on Monday, September 28 at 7:30pm in Chicago, Houston, Miami, and Atlanta. On Tuesday, September 29, the screening is at 7:00pm in Washington D.C.
